We were building AI agents that needed to send and receive emails. Every commercial option charged per inbox, which made large-scale agent workflows unaffordable fast.
AgentMail wants $200/mo for 150 inboxes. We needed 500+. So we built our own stack: Postfix for inbound SMTP, FastAPI for the REST layer, Supabase for persistence and webhooks, and AWS SES for outbound deliverability.
The whole thing runs in 4 Docker containers on a $7/mo VPS. We open-sourced it because we figured other builders had the same problem.
Today Emails4Agents supports full CRUD for domains and inboxes, send/receive/reply/thread APIs, webhook dispatch, Claude-powered message classification, and a native MCP server so your Claude Code sessions can send email with a single tool call.
